The University of Huddersfield was established in 1825 as the Huddersfield Scientific and Mechanic Institute.

Today, in 2007, student numbers have reached over 22,000.  Students from over 85 countries are represented on campus and the University has a £100 million turnover, contributing £150m to the local economy.  University Centres have been established in Barnsley and Oldham to encourage participation in higher education in areas where many people have not traditionally taken up this option.

With a strategic plan in place which outlines aims and objectives up to 2013, the University is committed to growth in student numbers, and to achieve a greater range of research excellence.

"Sport has the power to unite people in a way little else can. It breaks down barriers, it laughs in the face of all kinds of discrimination. Sport speaks to people in a language they can understand" Nelson Mandela

IcFEM has seen sport bring multi-cultural communities together, communities that have hundreds of people from dozens of tribes in the most difficult times. This is why IcFEM has made a link with the Human and Health Sciences School of University of Huddersfield.

A maximum of 6 students studying Sports Coaching at University of Huddersfield are now given the great opportunity of living and coaching sports within the Kimilili area from 2 weeks up to 8 weeks.
