Student?

Are you in between college and university or even studying at university at the moment? Then the IcFEM Gap Programme is for you. You can either spend half a year with the IcFEM-Mission or spend a few weeks during your summer holidays. If you’ve left college and are contemplating on what to do next, have some time out in Kenya and think about your next route in life. Work within our 7 departments; and find out what your talents are and what you enjoy. This’ll help you deicide on what career you want and/or what course to participate in at university…or if you’re in university, take a break and help the needy for a few weeks or even months.

Skilled Worker?

Unlike other organisations around the world, IcFEM allows our voluntary workers to stay a minimum of 2 weeks. So there’s no reason why you should resign from your job or take considerable amounts of time away from work and your family. Because IcFEM is a relatively small organisation we’re able to draw up a gap programme to your personal specification. And as a result of IcFEM focusing on accelerating community transformation in many areas; Health, Education, Evangelism, Communications, Resource Mobilisation, Community Development, Relief and Welfare it’s a certain that we can link your skill with helping the needy in the developing world. If you’ve always wanted to help the needy this is the time.

Retired?

If you didn’t have the time when you was studying or it wasn’t the right time when juggling your family and career or if you hadn’t been given the chance before then this is the time to do your bit to fight against poverty in Africa. You are the most valuable group to IcFEM; you have the most experience than any other group, you have the most skills and knowledge, you have thoughts and ideas and you have time. Many retired have the idea that retirement is the end, no this is the time that God blessed you with to help other people after years of experience s and lessons. Choose IcFEM and you’ll make a difference to the Mission, the developing world and yourself.

Work Experience?

Instead of having work experience in your home town, why don’t you have your work experience abroad? You’ll learn new skills, experience a different culture, develop your self-confidence, and become more independent. There are so many advantages of having your work experience abroad. If you’re at college or university, studying to become a teacher, nurse, carer or an environmentalist take IcFEM as your work experience organisation.

School Football Team?

IcFEM has opened up a window for high schools around the world. We are now developing links with high schools aboard.  They send eleven 14 to 15 year olds to Kimilili to train football to youngsters in the Kimilili Division. The high school students will take part in a number of activities including brick baking, development of tree nurseries, visiting an orphanage, visiting the Kenyan wildlife (giraffes, rhino, zebra, monkeys…) as well as running a football training club and a football tournament. It’s a once of a life time experience which the students both from the international schools and Kimilili will never forget.  This experience will broaden the students mind and will make the future generation realise that you don’t have to be a politician, be famous, be rich or be on television to make a difference to the needy.

Non-Overseas?

The IcFEM-Mission has now launched a new section of the Gap/Volunteers Programme. From 2008 we have decided the programme should not just be targeted at overseas volunteers but also Kenya citizens and all citizens within the African Continent. We have realised the programme should not only be beneficial to overseas volunteers but additionally we should develop the nations characteristics and skills which will help us accelerate community transformation within Africa.
