Mechanics

Maintaining vehicles is a cost in terms of money and time and yet transport is essential to the work of the Mission. Some parts of our work cannot easily be reached by foot as the distance and accessibility prevents it. Without transport, much of the work of the Mission will slow down or come to a stand still. Its a lot cheaper for the Mission if we have our own vehicles instead of hiring public vehicles to go into the field. Having vehicles gets people and things to where they are most needed. Transport provides the link between the people and the services tat we offer. Whether visiting the elderly, taking a child to hospital, bringing the disabled for assessment, running a conference or getting to an evangelistic event- transport is vital. Before we had our own vehicles it was impossible to reach places using public transport, but once we received the 4x4 it was a lot easier to access difficult terrain and we had a greater impact on the community. We have the Mission lorry which generates income as well as a school bus.

The fleet is shortly to increase by two Landrovers. Although well maintained and relatively low mileage, like all of our vehicles they are not young! They need tender loving care. If you have any knowledge of vehicle mechanics we would be so grateful for your support. Our own mechanic will certainly be able to teach you innovative ways of keeping vehicles on the move.

Contacting Future Donors

The work of the Mission continues to expand. As a holistic Mission we seek to encourage communities to take responsibility for their needs but the range of the services that we provide together with such items as sponsorship of school children are a drain on limited financial resources. The Mission is funded by private donations and government and quasi government organisations, but we need to attract more finance if we are to continue to develop this important ministry. So if you feel you can help us with raising finance, then there will always be a job for you. Contacting organisations, seeking sponsorship for particular projects or developing new ideas to encourage regular giving by individual donors are activities that will inevitably help in our work. We realise that this sort of work can be difficult and takes time, but it is the sort of work that could be started here and continued when you return. Imagine the impact that you could have on the work of God in Western Province.
